Unique Nose ProblemsQuestion: Answer: The techniques used in each case depend upon the reasons for the twisting of the nose. The nose can be thought of as being divided into an upper third, middle third and lower third (tip). The upper third is essentially the bony portion of the nose, the middle third is essentially the cartilaginous bridge of the nose, and the lower third is the tip of the nose. Each part of the nose must be carefully analyzed by the surgeon for any deviation. Depending upon the nature of the deviation in each part of the nose, different techniques will be selected. A "game plan" is put together for the entire nose that takes into consideration the interaction of all the "parts." Thus, a simple plan is undertaken for a simple deviation, while a complex deviation may require a complex surgical plan.
