New York Rhinoplasty

If you're interested in New York rhinoplasty or revision rhinoplasty, please contact Dr. Becker at the Rhinoplasty Center for a consultation. For further information on either procedure, continue reading below.

Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure designed to create better facial harmony by altering the size and/or shape of the nose. There are many changes that can be achieved, including a reduction or increase in the overall size, the removal of a hump, a change in the shape of the tip or the bridge, a narrowing of the span of the nostrils, and a change in the angle between the nose and upper lip. Rhinoplasty may also treat some breathing problems.

Rhinoplasty typically takes one to two hours or more to complete and may be performed with either local anesthesia and sedation or with general anesthesia. In some cases, the incisions are made only on the inside of the nose, which is known as closed rhinoplasty. In other cases, however, an additional small incision is made between the nostrils on the underside of the nose, which is known as open rhinoplasty. Recovery time usually takes about a week, though strenuous activities will need to be avoided for two to three weeks.

In cases where cosmetic or functional problems have resulted from a rhinoplasty procedure, revision rhinoplasty may be performed. Revision rhinoplasty involves the same options for anesthesia and incision location as primary rhinoplasty, though surgery tends to take longer as it is a more complex procedure. Recovery is also similar after revision rhinoplasty, though pain tends to be minimized.
