Philadelphia Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure able to alter the size and/or shape of the nose and create better facial harmony. Changes that may be made to the nose include an overall reduction or increase in size, removal of a hump, alteration of the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrowing of the span of the nostrils, and an alteration to the angle between the nose and upper lip. Some breathing problems may also be improved through rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty may be performed with local anesthesia and sedation or with general anesthesia. Surgery typically takes one to two hours or more to complete. Incisions may be confined to the inside of the nose, which is referred to as closed rhinoplasty, or there may be an additional small incision made between the nostrils, which is referred to as open rhinoplasty. Recovery typically takes about a week, though patients will need to postpone more strenuous  activities for two to three weeks.

Revision rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure designed to improve or repair a previous rhinoplasty procedure that resulted in cosmetic or functional problems. Revision rhinoplasty tends to take longer than primary rhinoplasty procedures to perform. The options for anesthesia and incision locations are the same. Recovery after revision rhinoplasty is similar to primary rhinoplasty, though patients tend to experience less pain and discomfort.
