Question:
I’m Middle Eastern, from Philadelphia, and I have a slight hump on my nose that I would like to improve. Are injectable fillers an option? How do they disguise a hump?
Answer:
Injectable fillers only offer a temporary change. For a very slight hump, they may provide an improvement. However, they are not approved by the FDA for injection into the nose, it is an “off-label use.” There are risks to these fillers that must be discussed in detail with the patient. I have found in my practice that, when presented with this option, including a discussion of the risks and benefits, patients have not chosen it.
