Reasons to Consider Finesse Rhinoplasty

Posted by Dr. Becker

When most people think of rhinoplasty they imagine grand-scale nose jobs. The common reasons for these operations include medical problems, such as breathing difficulties that are often rectified through nose re-alignment, or noticeable abnormalities with their nose which they’d like to remove. These may include a nasal hump that needs taking down, or a twist. Still, sometimes the little things can make all the difference, and that’s when a finesse rhinoplasty can prove to be useful.

Let’s look at what finesse rhinoplasty is, the reasons patients consider it, and some common finesse rhinoplasty procedures.

What Is Finesse Rhinoplasty?

Finesse rhinoplasty is sometimes known as refinement rhinoplasty in Philadelphia. As the name suggests, it’s concerned with smaller scale procedures than standard rhinoplasty. Although the changes made during finesse rhinoplasty may be smaller, they require great precision. It is no wonder that this is considered one of the most difficult branches of rhinoplasty. For this reason, it makes sense to see a specialist in finesse rhinoplasty, such as Dr. Daniel Becker, if you’re considering the procedure.

Why Do Patients Undergo Finesse Rhinoplasty?

The way we look can have a great impact on how others perceive us and how we feel about ourselves. Anything that boosts our self-confidence can bring great benefits to our lives. When you look at your face in the mirror, the nose is the most prominent feature that stands out. You may have a nose that looks okay to most people, but if it has a slight imperfection it will jump out at you every time you see it. With refinement rhinoplasty techniques, a skilled rhinoplasty surgeon can make the fine adjustments that will give you the nose you’ve always wanted.

What Can Finesse Rhinoplasty Achieve?

By its very nature, finesse rhinoplasty makes only slight changes to the structure and appearance of a nose, as opposed to primary rhinoplasty which can completely alter a nose’s shape, size and look. One of the most common finesse rhinoplasty procedures is to refine the tip of the patient’s nose. This can give it a better and more noticeable projection. Other finesse work can correct slight alignment problems of the nose itself, making it straighter and more symmetrical. AN EXAMPLE of a refinement rhinoplasty in a patient who wanted her nasal tip refined is shown here.

How Long Does Finesse Rhinoplasty in South Jersey Take?

A typical refinement rhinoplasty procedure takes around 1 ½ to two hours and will be performed under general anesthesia to ensure patient comfort and safety. Therefore, it is important that you have somebody drive you home after the operation. Swelling and bruising may be less prominent than after standard rhinoplasty, and recovery times may be slightly quicker. Nevertheless, it can still take between one and two weeks before a patient feels ready to return to work or college.
